Kilifi Watoto Center assists children mostly from Ganze which happens to be the poorest constituency in Kenya, however sponsorship is not limited to Ganze kids alone, others areas are also considered. Our sponsorship includes food, school uniform, exercise and text books, sanitation, school fees and life coaching and mentorship. Twakimbia Wasome Charity Run
The Twakimbia Wasome Charity Run began in 2018 with the goal of raising school fees for vulnerable children. The second edition took place in 2019, followed by the third in 2023. Our vision was to make this 7 km run an annual event; however, we were unable to hold it in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other organizational challenges. The run starts with a warm-up session accompanied by fast-tempo music, after which our chief guest officially flags it off. The event concludes with the awarding of trophies to the top three winners in both the male and female categories.
Charity Run Goals
We aim to achieve the following:
✓ Raise funds to pay school and colleges fees for our sponsored youth.
✓ Raise funds to purchase ten more desktop computers.
✓ Raise funds to purchase beds for the girls staying at the center who are currently sleeping on the floor.
✓ Raise funds to provide stipends for our computer and tailoring trainers.
✓ Raise funds to purchase a motorbike for easier mobility into the villages.
✓ Hold a youth motivational event to inspire young people.
Mother Teresa once said, ‘Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest you.’ The number of needy children in Ganze is in the thousands. While we recognize that we cannot change the lives of every child, we take pride in knowing that by transforming even just one or two, we can create catalysts for change within their communities.
